Toronto entrances are rarely generous. Many front porches in the older neighbourhoods are a few feet wide, shared with a neighbour or tucked beside a busy sidewalk, so a planter has to look full without blocking the way in. Vanessa designs tall, slim arrangements that read from the street and keep the steps clear, and matched pairs that frame a door without crowding it.

Height does the work where floor space is short: birch poles, branches and grasses carry the eye upward, while the base stays compact. Townhouse and semi entrances that funnel wind get heavier containers and sturdier stems, and shaded porches under mature street trees get plants chosen for low light rather than full sun.

Planters for every season

Every design is built for the house and changed with the season: spring planters with branches and early bloomers, lush summer planters, fall planters with kale, grasses and pumpkins, and Christmas and winter planters in fresh cedar, pine and birch that carry the entrance through to March. Businesses can also book commercial seasonal decorating for storefronts and offices.
