Annuals I always swear by that are worth the money Annuals I always swear by that are worth the money! Birds of Paradise - go for the taller plant, I promise the drama is worth it! And they continue to grow new leaves through the season. Mandevilla - with the right lighting these beauties do SO well! The vines double the size in a couple months. You can either let them droop or extend them upwards to enjoy the added height! Coleus - if you maintain them and prune off the flowers you will get big bold and bright leaves!! Sweet Potato Vine- this brings the drama! If you let it just do its thing it will trail and bush out so beautifully! You can also trim it back if it starts to be too much, but it’s a trailer that never fails if you want it to shine! Dragon Wing Begonia - this is one of my absolute favorites. They get super taller and have such a delicate droop to them creating a magical planter! Cordyline- these are fabulous and continue to grow through the season. The color stays vibrant. Go for the taller plant version if you can find them at the start of the season! Which annual is your favorite each year?

There’s something about blueberry season that take There’s something about blueberry season that takes me right back to being a kid. 🫐💙 Growing up, one of my favourite summer traditions was picking blueberries with my grandparents, so I couldn’t resist heading to a local farm to relive those memories. If you’re planning to go, look for berries that are a deep blue colour and come off the bush easily with a gentle pull. Those are the sweetest, ripest ones to bring home. Spider mites can take over your planters FAST! 🕸️ Spider mites can take over your planters FAST! 🕸️ If you notice tiny webs or little black specks on your plants, there’s a good chance you’re dealing with spider mites. I swear these weren’t here yesterday… that’s how quickly they can show up and spread! When I spot them, I reach for an insecticidal soap and spray every part of the plant: 🌿 Under the leaves 🌿 On top of the leaves 🌸 Around the flowers I’ve found they especially love petunias. They leave behind a sticky residue that can damage the blooms and prevent new flowers from opening properly. The best time to spray is early in the morning or in the evening when the sun isn’t directly on your plants. This helps prevent the leaves from getting stressed or scorched after spraying. The bonus? Insecticidal soap isn’t just for spider mites! It’s also been my go-to for controlling earwigs this season, which have been munching on my plants. I like my coleus full, bold, and dramatic, so I snip off the flower buds as soon as I see them. It only takes a few seconds and makes a big difference! Whether you’re using a slow-release fertilizer like Shake ‘N Feed or giving your plants a quick boost with a water-soluble plant food, feeding them regularly is one of the best things you can do for bigger blooms, fuller plants, and colour that lasts all season. Cutting back your petunias doesn’t have to be comp Cutting back your petunias doesn’t have to be complicated. I cut back about half way up, but you can do 1/3 to 1/2 of the way depending on how bad the branches are. Make sure to support the regrowth with lots of water to keep the soil moist and add some fertilizer!

July is when your planters really need a little ex July is when your planters really need a little extra attention! 🌿☀️ Here are my 3 must-do planter tasks this month: ✂️ Chop your petunias – Don’t be afraid to give them a trim! Cutting them back encourages fresh growth and a whole new flush of blooms. 🌱 Fertilize weekly – Summer heat means your plants are working hard. A weekly feeding helps keep them healthy, vibrant, and blooming all season long. 🐞 Check for pesky bugs – Earwigs and other insects can quickly damage flowers and foliage, so take a few minutes to inspect your planters and catch any problems early.
