Overwintering your mandevilla is actually super ea Overwintering your mandevilla is actually super easy! 🌿 Instead of trying to keep it thriving through the winter when it naturally wants to go dormant, I recommend leaning into that dormancy! Give your mandevilla a hard cut back and move it into a cool, dark space. I keep mine in my crawl space for the winter! During dormancy, it won’t need much water, so there’s no need to overdo it. I usually just check on mine about once a month to make sure it hasn’t completely dried out. Orange and burgundy might just be one of my favour Orange and burgundy might just be one of my favourite colour combinations for fall 🍂🧡🍷 This palette is full of rich, warm tones with just enough contrast to make everything pop. Think orange mums, green and purple cabbage, deep burgundy strawflowers, vibrant orange marigolds, and burgundy and orange pansies. The mix of warm oranges, deep wine tones, and unexpected touches of green and purple creates a fall look that feels colourful, layered, and a little moody all at once. PERENNIALS FOR A MOODY SEPTEMBER GARDEN 🌿🖤🍂 I’m a PERENNIALS FOR A MOODY SEPTEMBER GARDEN 🌿🖤🍂 I’m always a fan of checking out garden centres during every season—not just in the spring! It’s one of the best ways to see what’s actually looking good at different times of the year and to get inspiration for the mood you want to create in your own garden. These are some of the plants I spotted this week that would bring all the moody, dramatic fall vibes to your garden in September: 🌿 Purple Leaf Sand Cherry — Deep burgundy-purple foliage that adds instant drama and contrast. 🌸 Strobe Weigela — Beautiful dark foliage with pops of colour that feels rich and dramatic in a fall garden. 🌳 Velveteeny Smoketree — Those deep, smoky purple leaves are perfect for creating a moody, almost magical backdrop. 🪴 Godzilla Japanese Painted Fern — Silvery foliage with dark purple tones that adds incredible texture and something unexpected. 🤍 Quick Fire Hydrangea — Late-season blooms that transition into gorgeous warm pink and rosy tones as fall approaches. 💗 Summer Crush Hydrangea — Rich raspberry-pink blooms that add colour without taking away from that deeper, moodier palette. One of my favourite things about designing gardens is thinking about how they’ll look beyond just one season. A garden can have a completely different personality in September than it does in June! 🍂 These can be planted now or this for some moody garden inspiration for next year! 🌿

Fall doesn’t always have to mean deep reds and bur Fall doesn’t always have to mean deep reds and burnt oranges 🍂💚🧡💛 This fresh fall colour palette combines **chartreuse green, vibrant orange and golden yellow** to reflect the beautiful changing spaces around us this season. Look for **strawflowers** to add lots of texture, pair them with **yellow and brown pansies**, and don’t forget the **lime green coleus**! The best part? You can plant your coleus out in the garden before winter and enjoy it beyond your fall planter. Would you try this brighter take on a fall colour palette? ✨🌿

Don’t let the size of coleus at the garden center Don’t let the size of coleus at the garden center fool you… 👀🌿 It may be small when you buy it in the spring, but it can take off FAST! That’s why I almost always plant my coleus toward the back of my planter. You may not see much of it at first, but once it starts growing, it gains height quickly. If you plant it near the front, it can eventually grow tall enough to cover your shorter plants! That’s why I try to keep coleus toward the back—unless, of course, you have something even taller planted behind it. Save this tip for next spring! 💕🌿

I’m mixing cabbages, mums and rudbeckia to create a design that is full of colour, texture and personality. One of my favourite design tricks is using complementary colours to create contrast and make each colour really pop—and this purple and yellow combination does exactly that! 🙌 The full video breakdown is up on YouTube! A little summer recap before we officially turn th A little summer recap before we officially turn the page to FALL 🍂☀️ Yes, I know… summer is technically here for a few more weeks 😂 But there’s just something about Labour Day weekend that always feels like the unofficial end of summer — routines start back up, the kids are heading back to school, and suddenly we’re all thinking about fall and, in my case, CHRISTMAS. 🎄 This summer was a busy one, but a good one. Here are a few things that made the list: 🪴 Made A LOT of planters 🎨 Tried colour combinations I normally wouldn’t 🐛 Battled the bugs 😂 Learned that boxwoods have a personal vendetta against me ✨ Worked on some exciting projects 💗 Met some amazing people 👨‍👧 Spent some special time with Nonno 📸 Created A LOT of content 🌷 Probably bought too many flowers ☀️ And somehow… summer is already over?! Thank you for coming along for another season of gardening, decorating, experimenting and a little bit of chaos. 😂 Now… who’s ready for fall?! 🍂🤎
There’s SO much more to fall planting than just mu There’s SO much more to fall planting than just mums! 🍂💕 Here are a few of my favourite plants to pair with mums when you want to add even more colour, texture and interest to your fall planters: 🌸 Tutti Frutti Hyssop 🌿 Flowering Heather 🌺 Katy Kalanchoe 🌼 Pansies Try this vibrant pink combination for your fall planters if you’re ready for a refreshing change from the traditional fall palette! 💕✨ Who says fall has to be orange and yellow? 😉
Want an EASY way to add faux pumpkins to your fall Want an EASY way to add faux pumpkins to your fall planters? 🎃🌿 Make sure you’re choosing a faux pumpkin made from foam - this trick won’t work as well with the hard plastic ones! Comment ‘FAUX PUMPKIN’ and I’ll send you some of my fav ones! Simply add a stick into the bottom of your pumpkin. I usually use one around 12 inches long, which gives you lots of height to play around with. Want your pumpkin sitting higher in the planter? Just use a longer stick! 🎃 One little tip: if you want to add 12 inches of extra height, you’ll need a stick that’s roughly double that length so you still have enough sticking down into the soil to hold your pumpkin securely. Then just place it where you want it in your planter and you’re done! 🙌 SO easy — and such a fun way to bring pumpkins into your fall planters without them rolling around or taking up a ton of space.** 🍂🎃 Save this one for your fall planter projects! 💕 Comment ‘FALL TRENDS’ for the link to our fall issue with more tips for your fall planters!
