Description

Your porch is the first thing anyone sees. Make it the best thing.

There’s something about September. The light turns golden, the air goes crisp, and the whole landscape starts to glow amber and rust — and then most of us walk out to the garden centre, buy three orange mums, put them in a pot, and call it done.

Fall in the Planter Garden is the alternative.

This is the fall issue of The Wreath Coach’s seasonal magazine — 38 pages of the palettes, plant combinations and styling decisions Vanessa Monardo uses on real client installations across Southern Ontario. Every photograph in it is a planter she actually built. Nothing here is stock imagery or theory.

What’s inside

  • The 2026 colour story. Why this season moves away from flat orange into layered, tonal warmth — rust instead of bright orange, deep burgundy over flat red, golden ochre over pale yellow — and how to build depth that reads from the curb.
  • Five go-to plant varieties, styled properly. Mums, ornamental cabbage and kale, grasses, rudbeckia and celosia — what each contributes structurally, where to place it, and the design tip that keeps it from looking like a gas-station arrangement.
  • Four full colour palettes with planter recipes. Harvest Glow, Golden Hour, Moody Harvest and Pink Pumpkin — each with the exact plant list, a labelled diagram of what goes where, and which house exteriors it flatters.
  • The fall styling edit. Wood picks, dried lotus pods, birch, matte pumpkins and sculptural stems — plus the faux-pumpkin-on-a-skewer trick that solves the “it rolls out or disappears” problem for good.
  • Summer-to-fall transitions. What to keep from your summer containers instead of tearing everything out, with a real before-and-after.
  • The Fall Container Success Checklist. Six questions to run through before you step back and admire your work.
  • The printable Planter Planner. Map your palette, centrepieces, spillers and fillers across up to four containers before you buy a single plant.
  • Fall accents and Halloween fun. Plus how to overwinter your mums and grasses so next year’s colour is free.

Questions

When do I get it? Immediately. The download link is on your order confirmation page and in your receipt email.

Do the plants apply where I live? The palettes and design principles work anywhere fall happens. Varieties are chosen for a Southern Ontario season (roughly zone 5–6); much warmer or colder zones may need local substitutions.

Can I print it? Yes, for your own use. The Planter Planner is designed to be printed and written on.

Can I use the recipes for my clients? Yes — use them in your installation work freely. Please don’t resell or redistribute the PDF itself.
